2025 - Training: A Journey, Not Perfection

If there’s one thing I’m learning, it’s this: training is the foundation of growth, but it’s never perfect. Whether it’s fitness, a career change, or understanding myself, progress is about showing up, even when it’s hard.

Take fitness, for example. I’ve skipped workouts, doubted myself, and avoided sitting beside someone at the gym because I felt inexperienced. But every time I return to my plan, I’m moving forward. Training isn’t about perfection; it’s about persistence.

The same applies to life. Starting a new career, building skills, or even tackling a game like Elden Ring can feel overwhelming. But growth happens in small, consistent steps. There are setbacks and distractions, but each time you refocus and keep going, you’re training yourself to succeed.

I’m still figuring this out, and I don’t always get it right. Some days feel like progress, others like failure. But I’ve learned that what matters most is coming back, even when it feels hard. That’s where real growth begins.

5 Steps to Refocus and Train

  1. Pause and Reflect: Take a moment to assess where you are. What’s working? What isn’t? Be honest but kind to yourself.

  2. Simplify Your Plan: Break your goal into smaller, actionable steps. Focus on just one thing at a time to avoid overwhelm.

  3. Start Small: Even five minutes of action—whether it’s a workout, coding, or journaling—can rebuild momentum.

  4. Track Progress: Keep a journal or checklist to celebrate small wins. Seeing progress, no matter how tiny, fuels motivation.

  5. Forgive Yourself: If you slip up or lose focus, don’t dwell on it. Acknowledge it, reset, and return to your plan.
